Sample satire Comic- Flo & Friends

Reversal- The writer uses an example of reversal on the first panel of the comic. The panel say’s “ I came home last night and my mom was studying for my SAT’s. It’s reversal because the son is the one who’s supposed to be studying for the test and not the mother.
Parody- The writer uses an example of parody in the third panel of the comic.  In the panel the character explains that his mom says SAT for her mean “Secure A Tutor “. This is mocking the average high school student looking to take the SAT soon, and it’s kind of saying that most students need a tutor to pass the SAT’s.

Sample satire News paper- Patriotic Teen Fails Spanish

Reversal- the Teen is a great example of reversal in this situation. This article is about a teen that refuses to learn Spanish. I think in reality it should be the other way around they should be happy to learn something new, that’s the reason of going to school.
Exaggeration- the producer uses an example of exaggeration when making this video. This is video is exaggerated because it’s not something that would normally be on the news.

sample satire Non- newspaper article- MAD Magazine

Exaggeration- The magazine cover exaggerates Justin Bieber’s  hair that’s covering half of his whole face. They also exaggerated on the size of his ears. In reality Justin Bieber’s appearance is a little more normal.
Parody- the Magazine cover has an example of parody when they put Justin Bieber on the cover. They artist who created the picture is mocking the way Justin wears his hair and poses for the camera.

Movie scene-scary movie 1
Exaggeration- the producer used an example of exaggeration when he did this movie scene. In reality people that talk during movies is not that loud and ignorant.  In reality the actor would’ve been kicked out of the movie theater.
Parody- The producer uses an example of parody when the actor is in the movie theater talking loud on the phone, telling the movie, arguing with other people in the movie theater and trying to make boot legs of the movie. I think its mocking all the people who sneak food in the movie theater, who talk all through the movie, who start arguments in movie theaters and who people who just can’t stop talking in the movie theater.

Sample satire from the Simpsons

TV Show – The Simpsons
<object width="512" height="288"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/efFbvqozBBEG_O_GZLLk0g%22%3E%3C/param%3E%3Cparam name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/efFbvqozBBEG_O_GZLLk0g" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"  width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object>
Parody -In the starting of the episode Bart uses an example of parody when he writes on the board “Day light savings is not a failed bank”. They’re mocking the fact that it sounds like it has something to do with money. Also they could be making fun of the name, for example we have sun trust bank and its sounds like a similar name.
Exaggeration- the producer used exaggeration when Homer was visioning being high. I think the high you get from marijuana is not that colorful nor is it that strong for you to start seeing stuff. It was exaggerated to get appoint across and I guess to make it more exciting than it really is.
